RECONNECTION

For as long as I can remember, I have had a love for nature. Both the mountains, the forest and the sea. At the same time, we are at a stage in the Anthropocene where nature’s future is becoming more and more uncertain. What does it take for us to understand the seriousness?
Our everyday life consists of speed, technology and distance, and our connection to nature is becoming weaker and weaker. But the truth is that we are all part of biodiversity, let’s prove that we deserve a place!

How can I reconnect with nature, through weaving?

Through this project, I want to investigate how I can restore the connection between myself and nature, through my expertise. I will use craft as my main medium, and specifically weaving. Crafts are a medium that increases feelings of well-being and it allows our senses, perceptions and thoughts to be more free.

EARTH

The rock is hot,
warmed by the sun.
The sharp, jagged edges hit the skin. Crackling lines swirl down the mountain,
with large gaps and deep holes. The dry surface crumbles in my hands, like dust grains they fly away.

WATER

Under the water.
Quiet.
The water winds around the whole body, fresh, gurgling.
The blurred transparency there hits the eyes when you open them.
The sun shimmers through the surface, through the repeating waves.
All worries are forgotten.

PLANTS

Under the trees.
The light glints through the swaying leaves. They are close together,
with shadows that hide a secret. The dried bark is rough and grainy against my hands. Speckled in different shades and textures, the different growths grow wildly around me.

Experimenting with wrapping-samples and paperweaves. This allows me to visualize a sketch of colors and materials together.
